MATERIALICA 2012 -final report

A driving force for mobility and energy

+ + + Profile: MATERIALICA has now been organised under the theme of “Lightweight Design for New Mobility!”  +++ Growth: significant increase in interest from exhibitors and visitors + + + Synergy: having eCarTec at the same time ensures focused gathering of people from the industry + + + Internationality: greater international reach of the trade fair

“Lightweight Design for New Mobility!” was the central theme of the 15th MATERIALICA – International Trade Fair for Material Applications, Surface Technology and Product Engineering – which was held from 23rd to 25th October alongside eCarTec – 4th International Fair for Electric and Hybrid Mobility – at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. Expertise in lightweight design covering the entire range of construction materials and intelligent lightweight construction with integration, miniaturisation and multi-functionality in the area of functional materials make MATERIALICA a trendsetter for mobility and energy issues in the German trade fair industry.

Holding the trade fairs MATERIALICA and eCarTec at the same time has led to a clear growth in the area of materials-based technologies and applications this year. In total, 510 companies from 20 countries (2011: 503 companies from 24 countries) presented the entire range of material innovations for tailor-made applications in the target markets of mobility and energy to more than 12,000 international trade visitors. The key themes at MATERIALICA have therefore achieved growth of around 30 percent in the allocated exhibition space and an increase of six percent among the represented companies. “International market leaders like ThyssenKrupp, Evonik, Teijin, Siemens, Röchling, EDAG, Mettler-Toledo and Keyence Germany were represented as exhibitors with pioneering material developments in the various themes covered between MATERIALICA and eCarTec this year, and with their commitment they have made these pleasing figures possible,” explains a happy Robert Metzger, Managing Director of MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH and organiser of MATERIALICA.

“We see the deliberate close connection between MATERIALICA and eCarTec as the recipe for success for the future development of both trade fairs. MATERIALICA is a driving force for materials-based technology to expand and optimise the range of products in the entire field of electric mobility. This integrated concept is recognised and praised by exhibitors and visitors in equal measure.

About the MATERIALICA trade fair:

MATERIALICA 2013 - "Lightweight Design for New Mobility!"
At the coming MATERIALICA, there will be even greater focus on the central material, surface and technology themes for current and future solutions in the key sectors mobility and energy. Powerful adhesive and joining technologies and materials for mobile interior design are being developed as new trade fair focal points. In addition, the area of simulation, testing and material characterisation is being consistently expanded.

MATERIALICA 2013 is taking place at the same time as eCarTec Munich – the 5th International Fair for Hybrid and Electric Mobility – from 15th to 17th October at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. Accompanying conferences and the 11th MATERIALICA Design & Technology Award will also feature alongside the trade fair program. www.materialica.de
